Absa rewards

Absa Rewards is based on your products with Absa and and your spending patterns. After going through a lot of hassle to get to Tier 5 in order toe earn 30% cash back on groceries and fuel, they recently changed the whole structure which means you are not fully able to capatalize on the 30%.

There used to be spend limits of R3000 on groceries and R3000 on fuel meaning you would have earned R1800 cashback on Tier 5, this is no longer the case because it is now calculated on your overall spend, meaning if you do not spend R10000 per month you wont qualify for the limits of R3000 on groceries and R3000 on fuel, instead if you spend was R6000 they calculate 30% of R6000 and your new limits are R1800 for groceries and R1800 for fuel. So now you can basically only qualify for half of the maximum rewards.

This whole process has become so complicated and the app is useless because it does not help you to keep track of your spending to see what your actual limits are.

At the end of the day it is not even worth it anymore to have all their products in order to reach tier 5.
