ABSA REFUSES TO REVERSE A DEPOSIT INTO A WRONG ACCOUNT
Below is my correspondence with ABSA Dispute section respondent (Carly Loxton).
The response to my Dispute refers to a code of banking practices which I'm not privy to, reference to the stipulated portion of the practice is not quoted so as to afford me the customer, clear information should I feel the need to dispute further. Should I have missed the "Code of Banking Practices" or and "Terms and Conditions" clause in any of my cheque accounts that refers to wrongful deposit of money in my contracts with the ABSA Bank, it would be a fair, reasonable and ethical practice on their part to direct/alert me to that specific clause activated in this instance. The response received from the bank comes across as very careless and extremely dismissive, no effort made to even suggest the Ombudsman for Banking Services as my next option to seek relief, instead I'm directed to pursue the legal route to retrieve the deposited amount from third party.
The third-party account in question is with ABSA and an internal reversal of the transaction can still be effected as the third party has not withdrawn the amount, accounting equation provides for such an act, should the third party account not be in balance the burden of loss should fall on theiraccountand not on mine. I put it to you that, the bank is being very ********* in withholding my money as I have the right to transact with my money and instruct the bank on how to handle it's flow.
Your intervention in this matter is requested as in this Ramaphosa economy, I do not have the "Attorney" fees to legally chase a reversal of a R1000 from one ABSA account back into my ABSA account.
I'm a very unhappy customer right now.

-----------------------------------ABSA RESPONSE -------------------------------
Dear Mrs Jaba Thank you for your request.
Please be advised that we are unable to assist you with your request. Due to the stipulations of the Banking Code of Practice, we cannot do a correction without the consent of the account holder who received the payment or when there is insufficient funds in the account or holds on the account.
You have to contact the third party directly to make arrangements to get your payment back.
If you do not know the third party, you need to consult with an attorney to get a court order to compel the specific bank to release the personal information of their client. With this information you can sue the person for unjustified enrichment.
This is to confirm that your request has been withdrawn from our side.
If you require any other assistance or information, please email our Absa Email Services at ***
