ABSA refuses to investigate credit card *****, holds customer responsible.
On 17 November, 2017 my credit card was ******, I immediately phoned the stop card division to have the card stopped. The next day, 18 November, 2017 I decided to CLOSE THE ACCOUNT and had all funds transferred to a savings account. I received a confirmation letter that the account was now CLOSED. On 20 December, 2017 I received a credit card statement for the non existing account stating several transactions with a credit card linked to my name at various toll gates AFTER 18 November. I immediately phoned the card division and was informed there was still an active card linked to a NON existent account! I had the card stopped once again. I lodged a complaint with the disputes department that told me there was nothing they could do, I should phone the Toll companies. To date there is STILL an active card being used at toll gates all over Gauteng and Limpopo despite several calls to ABSA. By now "I" owe ABSA more than a thousand rand on transactions made *******ly with an ******* card for an account that ceased to exist two months ago! To be clear: I have not had an ABSA credit card since 17 November, 2017. The account was closed 18 November. I did not use an ABSA credit card for ANY transactions after the evening of 17 November, 2017. Please help me!
