ABSA Private Insure
Took my bond with ABSA and thought I’d try their building insurance. I had a leak from my geyser. A plumber was assigned to do the job as well as a roofing contractor to remove a small section of my IBR roofing. The leak was repaired but the removal and refitting of the roof was very poorly done. I’ve been trying to get the damage repaired for over a month now without success. I struggle to get feedback from ABSA. I phone the claims department hold on the line for 15 minutes, I start speaking to a person and then get told sorry but I can’t help you because you’re a “private insure” client, let me put you through, then hold again for 15 minutes only to be told the person that deals with private insure is not there. Seems that ABSA outsources their plumbing claims to a third party who in turn assigns a contractor. How can ABSA ensure quality standards are adhered to with this process. The cost of the roof removal was 5 times that of the geyser repair – I think the contactor was overzealous here. I cannot get details of the roofing contractor from ABSA as they themselves do not seem to know too much. Seems that the contactor is a non-accredited contractor not affiliated with any building association. I put my trust in my insurance that I’ll receive quality repairs from a reputable company not like it was done by a man off the street corner. I’m very disappointed in ABSA insure.
