Absa is broken. If you have insurance woth Absa, there is probably 100 reasons why you are not really covered. Cancel your policy and move to a private broker - someone you can actually talk to. That is if you can cancel the policy, because it would mean that you need to speak with someone, which will probably not be possible. You would try and send a mail off course, which will not be andwered. Then you'll complaiin. The complains department will keep sending you mails over and over to assure you that your conplaint are being dealt with. Everyone would be very very sorry. Thirty days later, this will still not solve your problem. Absa has finally been broken - take what you can and run!

A serious warning to anyone with homeowners insurance (Structural) with Absa - if you are renovating your house and not living there, YOU ARE NOT COVERED. Nor off course your holiday home, which I also learned in the process...... and you have not been told. This is apparently an uninsurable asset - by Absa at least.
