Absa poor service
I used to have an cheque account with Absa. I took a loan with them and decided to pay more so I can finish paying before the date we agreed. The loan was supposed to end on 2020/06/25 but I finished paying on 2020/05/25 The following month I made sure that my account has money only for bank charges because the loan was paid up, however Absa went and deduct the loan amount even after the loan was paid up , they charged me penalty R300 because there was no enough money meaning if there was enough money Absa was going to deduct my money knowing exactly i finished paying the money . I went to the branch and do the enquiries and I was told that they will escalate the matter . That was not my fault for them to go and deduct the money that I finished paying I only hard money on the account that I know was for bank charges. I asked them to close my account. During lockdown I found out my account was not closed their bank charges were increasing every month, and I was not even using their service when I call customer care regarding the close of the account I didn’t get any help. On the 28 January I received an sms that I’m owing Absa an amount of R999.71 and today I was called by an attorney telling me I’m owing R1415 and I'm being told that I have been handed over to Transunion. when I open the account I was not advice that the bank charges will increase and my account will be handed over as if is my fault. even though your not using the services, and the reason why I stopped putting money on the account is because of the R300 penalties and that was not my mistake. I need this to be resolved I cant, I'm tired of getting different calls every two weeks demanding to pay Absa even after telling them that I'm not working. I need peace. I regret having an account with Absa and I cant even recommend any friend or family to open an account with them. FNB never gave me such drama that I'm facing now with Absa So my credit score has to be affected because of Absa bank charges. .
