Absa poor client service.
I'm writing this review on behalf of my elderly parents. They have been with Absa for over 25 years.
My mother made a mistake with an EFT and I told her to contact Absa, I'm sure they will be able to help. We called the branch close to us and they informed her to send an email with all the details to their main office and they will be able to help.
I've sent this email 34 times (Kept getting the message "Inbox is full") and on the 35th try the email went through. I got a generic response stating there are no attachments on the email and I can clearly see everything went through fine.
We called the branch again explaining to them it was impossible to get through to the email address they have given us and while my mother was still explaining the consultant told her "Sorry I have another call coming in" and hung up the phone.
I then made it my mission to get that email through, woke up at 3 am, 4 am, 5 am and their inbox was always full, I've sent the email 55+ times and only got through that one time.
We even went to several branches and everyone gave us the same email address to email the information to.
We kept calling different Absa branches and at least one branch gave us an answer, simply they can't do anything for us and the person that we wrongly EFT the money too must eft it back. I mean in 2022 if money randomly appears in your bank account it will be very rare for them to send the money back.
We contacted the lady about the money and of course, she just denied ever receiving the money.
How can you run such a massive company and once you need assistance, the only way they can help you is through emails?
When we went into Absa multiple times they never logged our documents or tried getting into contact with the people that can try and help us, it felt like they didn't want to help us.
After 25 years with a company, having house bonds, funeral policies etc. with them and there is no effort to help when a client has a problem is pathetic.
I'm currently convincing her to change to a bank that will be more client-orientated and will be willing to assist us when we need assistance or at least just give us an answer "Yes we can help or No we can't" rather than beating around the bush and wasting time sending emails to an inbox that is ALWAYS full.
