Absa OMG!!!

ABSA is the worst bank you can bank at as a private banker. I have been banking at them before 2014, have done my car and home finance through them. Might have been the most stupid thing I have done in my life...

Here we go.... Let's see if some one gets back to me and have there fact's straight.

In 2011 I have done my car finance trough ABSA (What a mistake). I have paid my monthly instalment every month via debit order, and sometimes I have paid in more in to the account then what was needed.

2017 my final payment was due March... this is were the disaster started... I had some extra cash February 2017 and thought to my self let's settle the amount and get this car instalment out of the way.... How very wrong was I to think that this will be the last of my problems....

The Math...
I received my statement via post for 10 January 2047 The outstanding (Round total) amount was R6493.43... So the Debit order of 2267.61 is due 25the of every month. So if you subtract R2267.61 of R6493.43 your total is R 4225.82 (That is what my logic tells me). So I phoned on 3 Feb 2017 to get the settlement value and I was given the total of R3900.00 (Od rand and cents) I then I made a Deposit of R4000.00 at the bank in Montana the same day. Please note I did not have the paper with me to have the correct amount (Od rand and cents) at the bank so I thought let me just pay a round total (More than the settlement value given to me). So technically ABSA you owe me.....

Never the less 25 February 2017 ABSA takes a instalment again after the account is settled.... then of the the bank I go.... the person assisting me at the bank phones Car finance department and assisted me for 3 weeks phoning and doing inquiries regarding the debit order that went of if the car is settled (Ref # ********** 4/ ********** 2). At long last ABSA finance department was done with there investigation and realised they made a mistake due to me not paying in the correct amount (more than what I was suppose to). I received my refund a week or so later. Then I get a phone call late March 2017 to inform me that I have to pay back the refund I received as they were not suppose to refund me..... ***??? Obviously by now I am not one of the friendliest customer's at this stage. The person speaking to me over the phone said if I do not pay the refund back I will be handed over to legal department, in the same breath she tells me I must phone financial department and sort it out with them. I mean come on you phone me but I must sort out your mistakes. I made it clear that I am not phoning any one at ABSA and that she must let Legal and or the financial department to phone me.... This never happened.... However I received a letter via post informing me that if I do not pay They will
1) Hand me over to litigation action
2) reposes my car
3) Black list me

Lovely.....

I received a Audit certificate letter dated 1 March 2017 from ABSA saying that the account had ended February 2017 and that the last instalment was due 25/03/2017. Note that this letter does not have a name of the person that signed it, nor is there a date when I am suppose to pay the amount or R1953.41 that “I must pay”.

Please ABSA wake up and get your **** together, as soon as you get someone competent to phone me and explain to me how this is possible that I still need to pay you a x amount.

I am considering to move my account and my child's saving/investment elsewhere.

Very unhappy customer
Jennifer
