Absa not willing to close my Credit Card Account.

I paid off my credit Card on the 15th Dec and proceeded to a branch to close it. They claim I can only close a credit card account via calling the Credit Card Division Call-Centre and surprise-surprise they don't have an option to close a credit card. I end up speaking to a call-centre consultant and she claims the closing department consultants are busy and will call me back later- Its been 6 days now. I called 2 more times and still got the run-around and nobody called me to close the account. Seems to me the closing department is non-existent at this point. I want this account closed and an official letter sent to me to verify that its closed.
