Absa not there for the poor
Stay away from Absa funeral policies. Good day you speaking to Stephanie I am a talking about a absa funeral policy that my mom had for over 35 years as well as her savings account with absa for 35 years the funeral policy she had did not increase with inflation that was on a flat rate no matter how long she had it.The payout was R10,000 but absa with kind enough to give her a funeral benefit of an additional 15,000 my brother has power of attorney on my mom savings account my mom passed away in January we went into the bank with a death certificate on the hope that the benefit will be paid into her savings that we could withdraw to add to the 10,000 which was not the case the minute the death certificate was issued they put a freeze on the account the money from the benefit came in at 11 pm the evening if that people at the bank waited before putting a freeze on the account so that the money could be paid and used for the funeral we wouldn't now be having to go through courts nominating executors. My brother as I say has power of attorney on my mom's accounts and he was beneficiary on her funeral policy therefore my question is why was the benefit money absa gave to my mom not paid to an account in my brother's name so that we had the money available for the funeral this money is still lying in my mother's savings account and she was cremated 3 months ago the family had to fall into debts and arrears while waiting for a letter of authority to access this funds which was received yesterday on going back to absa they now in form us that we need to open a another account with a 500 Rand deposit and wait between 2 to 6 months again before the funds will be released what service does absa offer their clients the funeral policies by absa do not care for their clients they make the families of the clients suffer in a time of need
