ABSA not complying with POPIA and doing the bare minimum protect customers money.

Sharing of personal information and letting hackers to get online access to customers info and money. I trusted ABSA all these years until March 2026, when I got I call from ABSA Credit Card to increase my credit card limit and the following day received a call again from ABSA rewards to reward me for my credit card limit increase. Until I notice money going off my Cheque account, I immediately reported it to ABSA *****, went to the Police Station to obtain a case nr and followed everything by the book. I blocked and ordered a new card via the ABSA Banking App which has a delivery period of 5-7 days, I waited longer than that and made numerous phone calls to verify my details, only after escalating the matter the delivery process started. The one lady I spoke to at ABSA card said I was the fifth person to call and told her about the online ***** that happend. The 20 day time frame has passed and until today no call or email from ABSA ***** or the ABSA investigator. I've sent numerous emails and the only respond is that the investigator will call me. On Saturday, 11 April 2026, I went to ABSA Tambotie to deactivate the tap to pay function on my new card and to activate a Virtual card, the consultant informed me that according to ABSA, they can't deactivate the tap to pay and activate a Virtual card on my account, which is very strange, because other banks allow their clients to do it via their banking App. Yesterday I received a call again from ABSA asking me if I don't want a Credit Card of which I had one for many years, I asked the caller where did they get my details because this is the same modus operandi that the so-called people from ABSA used to de***** me. I'm really disappointed in the service that I've received from ABSA and want to close all my accounts and move to a bank that cares about their clients personal information and will do everything to protect their clients against online hackers and *****.
