ABSA NIGHTMARE
This has to be the worst banking experience ever I don’t recommend anyone to do business with absa, I opened an account online submitted all the necessary documents, the application was approved and got the card delivered, to hold the acc I had money deposited to it mind you at this point the card doesn’t have a pin in order for me to transact in anyway I’m told I have to activate the pin at the branch so I went to a Branch in Rustenburg as I was there for the weekend & to my disappointment I was told they can’t help me as I had a Joburg proof of residence and they don’t take Joburg proof of res and the lady insisted I look for a Rustenburg proof of residence which I dont even reside in Rustenburg….Fast forward Tuesday I’m in Joburg by the park station branch, The gentleman there activates the card as I try to withdraw money from the atm I’m told the account is blocked citing FICA, I went back inside the branch they ask for proof of residence which I provided (TymeBank statement) I’m told they don’t recognize it as proof of residence,I looked for my rain monthly invoice, Tax certificate and all of them were rejected…I requested they transfer the money to another acc so I can close the acc I was told they can cause there’s money in the account the only option is to call some who can bring an ID and we do an affidavit which I did, at this point I’m at the bank for 3hour almost….I signed the affidavit we submitted all the required FICA documents, mind you these are documents I submitted when opening the account online( the same statement they declined at the branch) as I leave the branch I am told I will receive confirmation sms that the acc is active, 24hrs later no confirmation so I decided to call…I’m now being transferred from pillar to post finally I get hold of someone who sends an email to I dont know who and the lady that “assisted” me at the branch and its its safe to say as I am typing this the account is still blocked and I have zero feedback….I’m a 1st time Absa client and its safe to say I regret opening an account with them
