Absa Newton Park product knowledge

Either Absa employees have no idea of their own process required to submit a funeral benefit claim, or the Absa website referring to flexi-save funeral benefit is incorrect.

Not just one, but two Absa staff at different Port Elizabeth branches have indicated that they require a letter of executorship in order to process the claim.

Assuming the executor is one of the Trust companies, and/or the estate is in excess of R250,000 that could takes weeks, even months. The Master’s office in PE have also admitted to be running a backlog of approximately 2 months.

However, here’s the kicker: The Absa website specifies that the LOE requirement only applies when the account is closed at the time the claim is submitted.

So in the meantime somebody else has to fork out the funds to pay for the funeral, all because of Absa employees who believe they are God.

At a time when the family require kind concise assistance, not bureaucratic bungling, Absa in Newton Park in particular have failed dismally.
