Absa National Deceased Estate Department
We've been dealing with a deceased estate matter were the deceased has a few ABSA accounts. We've provided ABSA with all of the requested documents, gone through the whole FICA screening process then requested that the accounts be closed and for the funds to be paid into the estate late account-This was all done in January. It is now July, six months later, and still the accounts have not been closed or paid into the estate late account, with ABSA still taking their account fees every month. Our calls are never answered and e-mail responses returned (if any) are generic templates; promising that the matter will be escalated for account closure, yet nothing happens after that. All while the estate liabilities keep piling up and the family suffers financially. A 'high intake' is not an acceptable excuse, since all of the other financial institutions and state entities dealt with have just as many clients, if not more, yet we've had no trouble closing off all of the deceased's other accounts and policies. Simply unacceptable.
