Absa - most compassionate bank ever (NOT!)

Follow-up to the 1 star review of Absa posted on 26 August 2024.

Six days have passed and we have been told:

".....our office received confirmation that both the loan accounts are still new and the current plan you were offered is the lowest plan offered by the bank, and are therefore unable to reduce the instalments....."

We have tried everything within our power to correct & resolve this situation to a reasonable outcome. However Absa loans will not BUDGE despite our obvious distress over not being able to afford an installment of R7300 per month (reduced but not enough).

In good faith we had to borrow money just to ensure September's installment went off safely without bouncing (it went off fine). Unfortunately we cannot borrow again as we now owe external parties money, trying to pay Absa Loans in the hope they would see our intent. This has not happened as they have still not reduced the installment to what we can just afford - citing system limitations due to the previous reduction plan in effect. I wonder who sets the "rules" and "limits" for said software? A gray bearded man in the sky perhaps?

I am certain it is going to be disaster come 1 October as the debit order WILL bounce. However I am unsure what more can be done now, possibly nothing.

Big businesses renegotiate their credit agreements with their lenders ALL the time, yet private citizens cannot be assisted to a level that is affordable for them.

We only have a certain amount that can be paid every month and Absa Loans will not accept this. This bank is going to end up killing me one of these days from worry.

Judging by the amount of similar reviews on HelloPeter, it seems Absa has created tons of bad karma with a lot of customers due to their indifference towards their clients but God is just and I wonder if it is this open lack of compassion that may come back to haunt them someday. Only God knows.

Matthew 5:7 Colossians 3:25 Romans 12:17

Thank you Absa for destroying our life, our hopes & our dreams of being independent.

It seems nothing can be done to help us so it makes no sense to try any further.
