ABSA Monument Park

On Wednesday morning, July 26, 2017, some time between 10:00am and 10:30am I went into the ABSA Monument Park branch to get some change for ten rand. While standing in the queue I heard an elderly lady ask the teller for coin change for R100. She was told by the teller that she could give her the change and that it would cost her R30.
A 30% fee! The flabbergasted lady then walked away. When I got to the window the teller informed that she could not give me any change for my R10. I asked to speak to her manager and when I did she informed me that it is a “new rule” to charge for giving change and she also told me to get change from the SPAR super market. I informed her that taking this money was amounting to “theft”. This is a totally unacceptable practice ******* by ABSA Bank!

This ABSA charge of R30.00 for requesting change for R100.00 was also confirmed by ABSA Brooklyn Mall branch this morning. A new ABSA rule policy. So why don't you Claudette just confirm that ABSA bank is in fact thieving from their clients with this fee structure. This is in fact the "new rules" and by registering my complaint within the exclusive ABSA domain will serve absolutely no useful purpose whatsoever. It always serves the public well when and issue of this nature is posted on a public platform.
