ABSA Mega U account rewards nothing but a myth

I opened a mega u bank account for My son 2 weeks ago. After registering for online banking, we were notified that he may go ahead an redeem his rewards. It is two weeks later an I still cannot redeem his rewards. I downloaded the mega u app, but it says he cannot register with his ID number and when I register it says my account is not registered for online banking. I called the call centre, spoke to 6 different consultants only for the last consultant to say that because I do not have an absa account, he cannot claim rewards. Seriously absa . If this is the case then I think I should just close his bank account !!!!
