Absa ********ly deducted money from my account

This morning i noticed absa had done a journal debit for the amount of R3668.80 without notifying me, i then spent the whole morning speaking to 5/6 different people to get the money refunded to me, one agent stated im making a note that we will not give you the money back and every department sent me to another as they stated its not their problem, the other lady stated your account is handed over to attorneys but we the collections department can still take your money, imagine my shock at the way these agents speak, terrible customer service.

so i decided to do some research and found that alot of absa clients have had similar issues regarding absa taking their money without consent. Banks have been abusing "common-law set off" to recoup moneys owed to them by clients. Meaning that they could, without any notice given to clients, practically clean out your bank account, leaving us, their clients, destitute. No matter the circumstances. they do not care whether you have fallen in hard times or can barely make ends meet, they do not care how you survive, they like corporated mafia. i then came across a high court ruling that states such practices are *******. Please see: http://www.derebus.org.za/high-court-rules-that-the-common-law-principle-of-set-off-is-not-applicable-to-debts-arising-from-credit-agreements-regulated-by-the-nca/ In summary: Banks are, by law, no longer allowed to deduct money from your account without a.) your consent, and b.) without you agreeing to an amount that you are able to afford, all these journal debits are ******** unless you have given your consent, i have pointed out this high court ruling to every agent i spoke to and they told me they can take my money, clearly they need to be trained properly, im deeply disappointed that absa would just take my kids food money and not even try and resolve this issue. i have asked for a refund and they refuse to do it, and it seems these banks can get away with ******** acts and go unpunished.

Whats the point of having a lawful court ruling if no one abides to it. This has caused me alot of emotional stress right now. im tired of being bul**** by these big corporations and how they do business knowing they in full breach of the law. i guess i need to move banks now.
