ABSA leads pentioner to her knees after internet banking fraught

Three weeks ago there were ********** with drawls on my account through internet banking. It was a Saturday and I phoned the bank immediately and they promised to cancel the internet banking to make sure no further transaction would go through. On Monday morning I went into the Somerset Mall branch and the bank opened a fraught case. They informed me that it will take 10 to 15 working days and in this time my account will be frozen. Yesterday when I went into the bank to follow up on the status I was informed that nothing has been done to date.

I need to mention that my account has been frozen which means all my income coming into my account are also frozen. I have access to no funds at all. It doesn't make sense that the bank didn't even open up a separate account and moved my income so that I at least have access to my income. Not only have I lost the money that has been ****** from me. I have also lost my income. I am a pensioner who has just moved into a retirement village. My rent was due on the 1st of June. I have made special arrangements to settle my rent by tomorrow and now I still have no idea when I will have access to my own money.

I have been banking with ABSA since it was Volkskas in December 1968. For 50 years I have banked with ABSA but after experiencing the devastation in dealing with this situation I have decided that I can't trust ABSA with my future. In no way have they thought about me and the affect this will have on me as a person and a pensioner. In no way have they come with a plan how they can help me. All my debit orders and monthly payments didn't go through. I am without money. If it wasn't for the assistance of my daughter I don't know what I would have done. I can think that people can easily commit suicide in situations like this. It is unthinkable that ABSA has no plan to assist its clients. This isn't something new for ABSA.
