I recently encountered with a representative named Katlego Moeng from the collections department at Absa.
During a recent interaction with Mr. Moeng, I sought assistance in changing my payment method from debit order to manual payer. However, I was informed that a debit order is a prerequisite for the personal loan in question. Subsequently, Mr. Moeng requested access to my account to investigate the reason for my referral to the collections department.
Upon providing my account details, the interaction took an unpleasant turn when addressing the verification of my physical address. After supplying two potential addresses and expressing uncer*****y regarding the information on their records, Mr. Moeng responded with what I perceived as a condescending remark: "I can't answer that for you. That's why it's called a security question."
The discourteous nature of this response, coupled with prior challenges faced with other departments and a prolonged 30-minute phone call, left me considerably frustrated. I expressed my displeasure with Mr. Moeng's tone, to which he responded in a nonchalant manner, further exacerbating the situation.
As a valued customer of Absa, I had expected a higher standard of professionalism from your representatives. The encounter with Mr. Moeng has left me dissatisfied and compelled to consider closing my account with Absa. In stark contrast, my longstanding relationship with Capitec over the past 13 years has been characterized by exemplary service, and I have not encountered such treatment.
I believe that as a reputable financial institution, Absa should prioritize the professionalism and courtesy of its representatives when engaging with customers. The encounter with Mr. Moeng has regrettably tarnished my experience with Absa over the past five months.
