Absa is a slow moving ship stuck in the 90s

I only have a homeloan with Absa. I pay extra money into my bond because its a flexi bond. I have never received a statement of my homeloan since I opened it in 2021, so I obviously would like to view my balance. When i tried to register on the banking app it indicated that I needed to go to the branch. I then went to the branch where they told me, I can't register on the app without a transaction account. I told them that I wanted to see my account statement, to which they said they will make sure I receive it via email (this was 3 months ago and I still have not received a statement). I then told them I wanted to transfer the money from my flexi bond to which they once again said I needed to open up a an account with them OR i can will in a form and submit a manual request.

This already frustrated me, because I don't want another bank account, but I conceded and said I will open a savings account. I spend an hour and a half with the consultant where they tried to open an account and it did not work - they told me my ID number changed and they can't verify me - my ID number never changed. Then there was an issue with department of home affairs so I said, let me rather just do it manually.

I filled in the withdrawal application and attached my proof of banking that is generated from FNB's website - a proof of banking that is accepted everywhere (including SARS) but by ABSA. 5 working days after my submission they said they needed a bank stamp on it (is this the 90s?!)

So once again I conceded and I went to my bank and asked them to stamp my proof of banking. I then resubmitted the request. 5 working days later they told me they needed my bank statements that is stamped by the bank. I feel like my bank statement is a private document - why do they need to see how much is coming into my bank account? Why can't they accept the proof of banking generated?

This is an absolutely frustrating and unnecessary process - get with the times Absa! I will move my bond as soon as I have the opportunity - I cannot trust a bank that is this outdated and makes it this difficult for me to access my own money

Reviewer Update
Hi

I was contacted by a customer care agent that just basically said the process is the process. Even worst, I now found out that the only account my funds can be transferred to is the bank account where my mortgage gets deducted from.

So here is the admin that you create for me because I have a homeloan with you:

* I need to print out my bank statements - because you don't accept a proof of banking document that is accepted for anything else (it is even accepted by SARS and UIF)
* I need to physically go to my current bank's branch to get these bank statements stamped because you don't accept virtually stamped statements (which is a benefit I get from FNB to save me time and effort)
* It has to be the bank that my homeloan is deducted from - even though this is not where I want the money to be deposited in - so then I would need to go and transfer the money as soon as it is paid over
* Then I need to fill out a withdrawal from digitally - BUT then print it out and sign it, scan it in again and then email it to you, because you don't accept digitally signed documents like any other bank or institution does
* OR i need to open an account with you - which I can only open if home affairs' system actually works on the day

Here is what I don't understand:
* Why does my money need to be transferred to the bank account where my mortgage is deducted from?
* Why do you need to see my full bank statement? Is this how you do your free market research? snoop around all my transactions, see which others banks i spend with so that you can target your marketing to me?
* Why can't i digitally sign my withdrawal form? surely we have learnt with COVID that digital signature has an audit trail and should be sufficient
