Absa Insurance: What a joke

I have been an advocate of Absa since I've been able to pay my own bills. I have never had a bad experience with anyone either in-branch or over the phone and I've always been there in defence of the bank during discussions; this morning I found myself on the same side as so many previous Absa clients, I am actually heartbroken at the way I am being treated. A ******** in my own skin and the consultants make sure you feel ashamed of your own voice.

During the first week of September this year, a heavy thunderstorm befell Johannesburg, and after the night's rain, I noticed dark patches building up on the ceiling of my house; screams roof leak right. After a fews days of back and forth whether I should pay for this myself, I decided to submit the claim as the damages where more than what my pocket would allow.

A guy came out, took photos and ran a water leak test on the roof. His findings where sound and told me that he will submit the results for the claim to be processed. This was in the second week of September.

October comes, and I try to follow up. If the consultant handling the claim was not available it was an excuse of they don't know and will get back to me. A week goes by and I decide to phone again, same story, no one can tell me what's going on.

November approaches and we're seeing an increase in terrestrial rain fall; roof leak in the back of my mind, the damage gets worse. I assumed they are waiting for a dry spell, and they'll let me know. Nothing! November draws to a close, and I phone in again, same thing happens, no one can tell me what is going on.

After some thunderstorms recently and a bubble forming in three (3) of the roof leak spots, I decide to phone in one more time, before submitting a new claim, and I get told that, three (3) months ago, the consultant found that my roof was in good condition and nothing needs to be done.

Seriously? A guy comes out, does the tests and takes photographs of the damage and nothing needs to be done. Then in three (3) months, without any feedback, and I mean ANY, I am being told the my claim is not valid because there's nothing wrong?

This must be an early April's fool joke, and I ain't laughing.

Evening Nthabiseng,
An apology does not make a wrong, automatically a right.
A competitor has pre-approved the repairs I had submitted originally to Absa.
You are more than welcome to walk this "journey", but you will be doing it on your own.
