ABSA insurance sucks!
ABSA insurance is the worst. A bunch of ******s. They are okay collecting your monthly premiums, but when you lodge a claim, you can be assured that they will find reasons to repudiate the claim. I am convinced that they are in cahoots with the contractors that that they use. Find a reason to repudiate the claim and we will give you a kick-back. Easy money for both the company and contractor and all are happy and smiling, except the poor customer. 1. A number of years ago a lodged a claim for my pool filter that burst. the claim was repudiated on the grounds of poor maintenance. I argued that water geysers like pool filters are vessels which can burst. They pay for geyser, but not for filters. 2. A while back some wall tiles fell off the wall after an earth tremor. I lodged a claim which, not surprisingly, was repudiated on account of poor maintenance! Apart from keeping them clean, how do you maintain tiles? Frequently taking them off the wall to make sure they still stick? On complaining, I was told to find my own contractor to prove the contrary. 3. On 7 February, we had a terrible storm in Roodepoort where I stay. More that 200 mm of rain fell within about an hour. My pool pump was flooded and the pool pump damaged. I once again lodged a claim. A contractor from Elyte Chem came out to assess the damage. After two weeks of not getting any feedback and my pool water turning into pea soup, I followed up with the contractor to be informed that they have submitted their report and that I should contact the insurance company. I called on Friday, 21 February, to be told that they will come back to me before the end of the day. On Monday, 24 February, I called again to be informed that the claim have been repudiated. The contractor's report stated that there was a sticky bearing which prevents the motor from starting, that there was a leaky seal and exposed electricts. They pool pump was working perfectly before the storm. There is clear evidence of the flooding from the water flood lines in the pool pump house. I contacted the contractor about all the garbage he reported and he could conveniently not remember the details of the report and would let me have it. No feedback presently and I am not positive that I will receive any. Hence my statement that that the contractors are in cahoots with with ABSA insurance and that is why I am also willing to name them. The claim number is ***.
