ABSA Insurance Rejection Claim for Swimming Pool Filter.
I submitted an insurance claim with ABSA for my Swimming Pool Filter bursting while I was not at home which caused flooding of my filter box resulting in the motor getting damaged. ABSA gave me a claim No. ********** and assigned a contractor to assess the damage and give a report. The contractor came and assessed the filter and damages. The contractors sent through a report as requested. ABSA did not send anyone else to the property. ABSA rejected the claim stating in there report: (1) That my sand was not regularly replaced causing it to clog up and the buildup of pressure resulted in the bursting of the filter.(2)Due to pressure build up the motor works harder than usual causing excessive heat which would lead to damage. I managed to get a copy of the contractors report and compared it to ABSA report. There is no statement of the sand being clogged up and nothing about the motor working harder as stated in ABSA Report. In fact the contractor detailed that the sand is in good condition. I took this claim further to the complaints department, they have now told me that the claim is still rejected because no evidence of an insured peril was found. I would like to know why ABSA is placing false facts on insurance claims to inform the clients that it is rejected. Both a geyser and swimming pool filter work with pressure, should your geyser burst, no problem in paying- let your swimming pool filter burst, ABSA will find every excuse not to pay even putting false statement on the claim report.
