Absa Insurance refusing to repair damages

I recently I did some renovations to my house, where I basically renovated everything; New tiles through out the house, New ceilings through out the house, New doors through house New paint inside out,..roof etc.

On the 27th of February 2021 I logged a claim for a burst geyser the caused damages the the bedroom bathroom. On the day I rushed to the local hardware to buy pvc piping so I can redirect the water outside so not to damage the newly installed ceiling or anything else.

Absa (Kevin Zondo) rep**** that the claim has been logged and approved. A plumber was appointed for the replacement of the burst geyser. The plumber also assessed and reported on the damages done by the geyser and advised that Absa will appoint a contractor for the repairs to the bathroom.

Absa then appointed Them Yende from Galmar for the repair to the bathroom. I called Galmar for a whole week to confirm when the contractor will be onsite for the repairs, who eventually arrived on the 5th of March to asses the damages. Another week went passed with no response from Absa or the contractor. I consistently called Absa Call Centre requesting feedback of which I was told that they waiting for feedback from the contractor.

I was the told that Thabo Ndaba is dealing with my claim and that he will contact me regarding my claim. Instead I received a mail from Thabo with an Agreement of Loss to the value of R3104.25. I then called the Absa Call Centre and was advised that they sent an Agreement of Loss because I am using my own contractor, I the said that the contractor was appointed by Absa. The lady then said that they are payment me out because Absa is unable to repair the damages. I then requested to speak to Thabo himself.

Thabo called and I asked how he can send me an Agreement of Loss if I do not know what status is, that I have been calling for over a week requesting feedback on the repairs. I asked Thabo to send me a mail, of which I responded on the 16th of March with my concerns. I sent Thabo a follow up mail on the 17th of March that I have not received feedback from him and that I will refer this to the ombudsman and log the complaint with Hellopeter.

Today 23rd of March still no reply!

@Daphne Le Grange

I have responded to your mail you sent regarding this, I also received a call from one of your consults.

He was polite and friendly and asked that I get a contractor out to quote and submit the quote to him so he can work and resolve this matter. He promised to send me a mail regarding our conversation so we have this in writing and on record, however I still have not received the mail from him 48hours later.
