Absa Insurance

Our claim with Absa insurance was lodged on Friday 2-10-20.Two days later Monday Morning 8am the ascessor from Westdyk Electrical Contractors came to view our damages to the Aircon, after viewing the indoor unit and taking pictures he asked if he could see the indoor unit. ( I didn't understand as he was looking at the indoor unit) Surprised I said to him you are looking at the indoor unit and then went on to ask him if he would like to see the outdoor unit. He did not know the difference between a indoor and outdoor unit.

It's the Friday 9-10-20 and still no reply from Absa insurance.

I called Absa and was on hold for 25mins only to then be told by the Absa consultant that the report from Westdyk Electrical Contractors who inspected the Aircon was not in as it was too early for the report as they had only inspected the unit yesterday Thursday 08- 10 - 20... I corrected the consultant and said told her Westdyk Electrical Contractors had inspected the Aircon on Monday and it been a whole week with no feedback.

the absa insurance consultant was surprised at the fact and said she will have the report by mid-day and definitely she will contact me back to provide an update. at 3pm Friday no call, I called Absa back and was then told that another company would have to be appointed to inspect the Aircon as Westdyk Electrical Contractors report would be accepted for some reason.

Is Absa Insurance using untrained contractors to assess damages?

Now we need to wait another weekend because they don't work on weekends and they sent an unqualified contractor to view the damages in the first place.
