On the 19th of July i was hijacked and lodged a claim with ABSA. It took them a month to respond and only got a repudiation letter since they claim my car was taken from a non insured address.

The vehicle was taken as i was getting into the house i had visited hence the different address to where am permanently residing. They somehow chose to believe testimony from neighbours who allegedly told loss adjuster that i stayed in the premises that the incident happened despite proof of residency i have for a different aprtment.

The vehicle in question was hijacked on the 19th of July and the claim was lodged on the 20th but it took ABSA approximately 3 weeks to have any meaningful response. When they did respond the loss adjuster had aasured me they would pay but to my disbelief i got a repudiation. The reason contained was that i had misrepresented the facts as the vehicle in question was taken whilist parked in an area without lockable garage. The incident happened in Midrand while i was visiting hence there should never be a reason why i should be allocated a lockable garage when am visiting.
They further allege that some neighbours confirmed that i frequent the premises where the incident happened and not only do i frequent it but am a permanent dweller there. I forwarded prrof of residence (valid lease agreement) showing that i stay in a different place altogether but they decided to believe the testimony of those neighbours.
Having dilly dal**** for almost a month i further received an SMS on the 21st of August that my custom is valued and they will debit my account for the month's premium on the 26th . This is not only unfair but gross abuse of muscle by ABSA insurance.
