ABSA Incorrectly Listing My Personal Loan as “In Arrears” – Credit Profile Prejudiced
I app**** for a personal loan with ABSA and received a formal quotation on 20 June 2025, with the first instalment due on 31 July 2025.
To my absolute shock, after conducting enquiries with ITC and Experian, I discovered that the ABSA Personal Loan was recorded on my credit profile as being 30 days in arrears at the end of July 2025.
This is completely unacceptable.
The instalment was paid via debit order, and I have never missed or been late on a payment. There were no prior arrears, no default, and absolutely no justification for this negative listing.
As a direct result of this false and incorrect information, my credit profile is now reflecting negatively. I am currently in the process of selling my vehicle and applying for finance for a new one, and this incorrect listing is directly prejudicing my application and financial standing.
ABSA, as a registered credit provider, has a legal obligation to ensure that all credit information submitted to credit bureaus is accurate, fair, and up to date. Reporting an account as “in arrears” when it was not is negligent, misleading, and damaging.
I am requesting the following urgently:
Immediate correction of my credit profile with all credit bureaus
Written confirmation that the incorrect arrears listing has been removed
A clear explanation as to how this error occurred
I trusted ABSA with my financial reputation. This experience has caused unnecessary stress and potential financial harm, and I expect this matter to be treated with urgency.
IMPORTANT: I do not consent to any additional credit enquiries by ABSA that may reflect on my credit profile. I am fully aware that repeated or unnecessary credit enquiries can negatively impact a consumer’s credit score. I will gladly send you the report I paid for at ITC and Kudough
