Absa iDirect has just become a thorn in my life instead of simplifying my life as that is my reason for taking an insurance policy anyway. On the 11th/12th January I was Hijacked and my car was recovered around the 9th of February at the Botswana border by the police. It was given a new police APV number. Absa idirect then took it to Precision Auto to fix whatever damage that may have been caused by the hijackers. After that both Precision Auto and Absa iDirect just forgot about me. I never received any feedback about my car from any of them. I took steps to follow up and I only got my car after 3months with them. I realised there was a lights alarm and booked it in with the car manufacturer to have it checked out. They discovered that more damage was caused in that area which Precision Motors did not fix which caused me R49 000. I raised it with ABSA iDirect, and they now claim it's not the same car they assesed at Precison Auto therefore denying my claim, how possible is that? They send me a wrong Vin number and told me that it is the car's original vin number which does not even appear on any documents that they have from me that I used to take the policy in the first place. Now I have reached my last nerve on how they treat me and this is only the latest in their antics. Please also see the email I sent to their ACTIONLESS ACTION LINE DATED 13/04/2017 regarding this claim and the trouble they took me through, unresolved and they are still continuing to add more woes for me to this day.

BEGINNING OF EMAIL

My name is Thabiso Nathaniel Maleka, with ID ************.Today marks 3 months since I’ve been hijacked. Being hijacked is a terrible experience never to wish on your worst enemy. Now as an Absa Idirect insurance member the experience is made even worse by ABSA and their representative, Mr. Johannes Coetzer who has been assigned to my case from the onset. This guy is dismissive, non-empathetic let alone not even having any care in the world about my situation.

I mean for 3 months I have been paying a premium in instalments for a car that is not in my possession. For 3 months I’ve been paying insurance for a car that is not in my possession and I am now realistically facing the fourth month. I am so unhappy about the treatment I have received having been an Absa Idirect insurance member and an ABSA client for so long. Let alone that all my 3 cars are covered by this insurance.

From the start this guy, Johannes Coetzer has been promising that my car’s claim will be resolved within a week, and every week since then whenever I spoke to him or exchanged emails he will tell you the claim will be resolved the following week. Well, it has now been THREE MONTHS. My car was recovered within the 1st Month and I was informed by the very same ABSA who sent my car to Precision Auto Panelbeaters in Pretoria West.

Upon inspection of the vehicle I realised that the was damage on the car in terms of scratches, some panels missing and a few other damages that’s why they sent it there. ABSA authorised that the damages be repaired. Now, the worst damage/loss that has incurred is that the Police have now scratched on their APV numbers on the car and I have been informed by ABSA that those numbers will be part of the new Registration of the car, leaving a permanent mark that this car will always be seen as a ****** recovered car to potential buyers or if I want to trade it in, even when I myself am driving that car around Police Road Blocks and whenever I am randomly stopped in future.

It is very obvious and apparent that the car because of this has lost some value. So in a nutshell I have suffered a loss and I am supposed to be covered for a loss by ABSA Idirect. I raised my concern with Mr. Coetzer who remarked that they will just fix the car and hand it back to me. I told him it was unacceptable to me since I have a suffered a loss I would like to be compensated for that loss. He promised he would find out the amount of the loss from Land Rover and raise this with his seniors that I be compensated. WELL THAT WAS OVER TWO MONTHS AGO.

This guy has a tendency of not giving me updates if I do not contact him first. Every other claim that relates to this hijacking, he gave me the run around first before he could pay out any of the claims. Fast forward to last month, I asked him how far he is with discussing my claim with his seniors. He now changed his tune, he is no longer going to find out the amount of my loss, but will wait for the car to be completely fixed, handed over to me and then, only then will he inform his seniors to make a decision. Telling me he is waiting for the car to be in my hands first and he wants to see it’s condition. He is hoping that I will take the vehicle and crawl under the mat and disappear.

I told him that this was unacceptable and I now want to escalate the matter to the very senior he is talking about to get my answers. I requested for his seniors’ contacts, needless to say that he completely ignored me as he does not take me seriously. I mean, the car has been taken to a panelbeater of their choice, he knows the exact capabilities of this panelbeater to know in what state my car will come back in. This is a Land Rover approved panelbeater trusted also by the car manufacturer. So they know exactly in what condition the car will come back in. He is trying to ignore the fact that I still suffered a loss with the Police numbers, let alone the panelbeating. I am no panelbeating expect but the condition that the car was found in should have been fixed a long time ago, I even have photos to prove that. It has been more than two months in there. I have no idea if they are also colluding with Mr. Coetzer but I have my suspicions as it does not make sense to me. The last time I spoke to the panelbeaters they told me the car will be done in 10 working days, that number has doubled. The last time I emailed to Mr. Coetzer he told me it would be done the next Wednesday, well it is now almost a month since then.

I HAVE SPENT 3 MONTHS IN LIMBO. I HAVE LOST MORE THAN R90 000 IN CAR INSTALMENTS PLUS INSURANCE IN THIS THREE MONTHS AND STILL COUNTING. I HAVE BEEN DISMISSED AND SENT FROM PILLAR TO POST BY YOUR REPRESANTATIVE MR. COETZER. I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY CAR IN MY POSESSION. I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN, AS THE FIRST DAY I WAS HIJACKED 3 MONTHS AGO. NOBODY IS BOTHERING TO UDATE ME ON ANYTHING. YET I AM STILL A LOYAL ABSA AND ABSA IDIRECT CLIENT. PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS MESS THAT MR COETZER HAS CAUSED BY HIS CONTINUED DON’T CARE ATTITUDE.

END OF EMAIL

Now it has been more than six months and I have more issues with them and they still are giving me the run around. The latest by Shane Davies an ABSA iDirect Assesor.

PLEASE ASSIST ME ON THIS
