ABSA I derect is refusing to cancel my insurance

I took out a car insurance with ABSA I direct and was dealing with Agnus Joseph. He phoned me to offer me the cover on my vehicle, I was happy with the offer so I took the cover, after reviewing my policy document there were lots of errors on my details, getting hold of this guys was a nightmare, he would not respond to emails and will never get back to me. Scared that I would encounter a problem and maybe want to claim and he'll go MIA on me since he was never available, I decided to insure my vehicle with someone else. I tried phoning ABSA to cancel my insurance with no success so I decided to write and send cancellation letter to Mr Angus Joseph, on the letter I stated that I am giving the 30 days notice and when they should take their last premium. After they have debited their last premium, I received an sms informing me of the next debit date. I sent an email to Joseph asking how is it possible that they want to debit again since I cancelled. To my surprise he responded and told me he didn't receive any cancellation letter, I was shocked because the same email he was responding to had the attachment with my cancellation letter . He then told me I need to resend it as well as new insurance proof. I did as he asked send both documents on one attachment on the same email, he claimed he only received cancellation letter and still waiting for new insurance documents and refused to cancel my policy telling me debit order for this months premium will go through.

When I woke up this morning ABSA debited my account, they are refusing to cancel my cover. Either this Joseph guy doesn't know how to fetch attachments from emails or ABSA I-direct is really desperate to hold on to customers that they've already lost due to lack of communication and poor service.

Stay away from this Insurer please.
