Absa. Horrible service.

What was supposed to be a chilled Sunday with my son turned to be a day from hell, all thanks to Absa. So I decided to go back to using my old chacque acc and close the savings accaccount. I went to the Absa Strijdom Park branch and asked Ntokozo to remove all the holds he had in my account as I now want to use this acc to receive my salary. He assured me that all was in order. That must have been on Tues or so. On Friday 16 Feb I go to the branch again, I also doublcheck with Ntokozo if all is in order on my Cheq account and I get a positive response that it's all good. On that same Friday night I go to the petrol station only to be told that my card is declining. I try to withdrwa some money and the machine tells me that " daily limit exceeded". Sat morning, 17 Feb I go to the Northgate branch to sort the limit thing out of which they do assist with.... after waiting for approximately 20 mins in the queue. When I go outside to withdraw money on the account..... I get a shocking error message from the machine that the "transaction is not authorised". By that time, the bank is already closed so I couldn't go back inside. I went back today as they open on a Sunday (18 Feb). Wow to my shock and dissapointment, there's still holds on my account and there's absolutely nothing the branch can do to assist me. Now here's my confusion, Ntokozo assured me that there are no holds on my account and that all is in order..... mind you I did mention that I'll be using this account for all future payments, salary to be specific. Now I'm at the branch stranded, my 7 month old son has run out of food and diapers. Another confusion, couldn't any one (between Ntokozo and Northgate) have picked up that there's still holds on my account and therefore can't access my funds? The lady at Northgate branch was only happy to set the limit on my Cheq account. I meant is there no way she could have seen that setting the limit is preety much useless when I have zero access to my funds; and especially when I thought I was up to date with my payments (loan and overdraft). But with that being said, the issue at hand is not being made aware of the holds that are still on my account. Now I'm stuck with no fuel, no food or diapers for my son yet I have funds on my account. I'm so annoyed and disgusted with Absa right now.

Oh did I mention the response I got from Sonto today at Strijdom Park while I was trying to explain the whole ordeal..... she said "Yho yho yho Sisi", give me your card. I immediately felt I was annoying her. Could not even complete my sentence, but then again, why am I surprised?
