Absa Homeowner’s Insurance is a disappointment and is always looking for ways not to pay out clients
I am an Absa client with three properties and transactional account. I am really disappointed with how I have been treated as a customer by Home owner's insurance. I have never been satisfied with any of my claims since I have been a client. There is never response on claims I have to always constantly follow up and end up not being paid up fully or not paid up at all. In 2021 July I logged a claim for a pipe burst and the claim amount from the service provider was R11, 778.61 Absa only paid R5961,50 which did not cover all the costs and had to pay it myself (claim number: 4071***)
In 2021 September I logged a claim for a bore hole that was not working. Absa sent people to inspect the issue. When I asked from the people they sent what the issue was they said it was pump was burnt however when Absa reject the claim it was a different story. The claim was not paid up I was given a run-around even the guys they asked to come asses the claim did not put the pump and wires back where they found them. I have followed up again with this regard and was just told to log a complaint with ombudsman if I want. This was never resolved and still pending (claim no:4104***) The most recent claim was logged on April 2023 where I had claimed for a geyser replacement. I had to make several calls, send several emails to follow up on the claim. claim amount from the service provider was R17053,22 Absa only wants to pay R12276,34 which will not cover the damages caused by the geyser. (claim number: 4468***) I am an angry and disappointed client as I believe that absa home owners insurance is always looking for ways not to pay clients and it is not right as I have paid for these services. This is also not aligned with Absa’s values : We are obsessed with the customer • We are curious, and we anticipate customers’ needs • We each take ownership of delivering the One Absa customer experience • We outperform by going beyond customer expectations
