ABSA Homeloans are mercenary

Like many, we found ourselves in some financial difficulties and fell behind on our payments. We maintained communications with ABSA and came up with a six month payment plan to catch up. Our monthly installment was increased from +-R15000 per month to +-R18,000 per month for the period. In month 4, we found ourselves in a position to pay for current and following month, ie one month in advance. We did this fearing we may find ourselves in a pickle in future, which as it turned out happened the following month. We informed ABSA of our intentions and received no response from them. The next thing we knew, we had the sheriff delivering an attachment letter on our property. There was no further communication from ABSA. We eventually managed to contact ABSA who informed us that the attachment had been processed due to our failure to make payment in month 5. We explained to them we had actually paid month 5 in advance as explained above. They were not interested in this and said it made no difference, we had defaulted in month 5. The attachment still hangs over our heads. They instituted a new payment plan of R22,000 per month for a further 6 months. This has been comp**** with.
