ABSA Home owners insurance refuse claim after heavy rains

We moved into a new home end of 2021. Early this year we noticed damage to the roof and cupboards in the kitchen after the heavy rains. I contacted ABSA INSURANCE and start a claim (home owners insurance). They responded after assessing the damage, that it is maintenance related. The roof of the house must be maintained (I do get it, and plans to seal and paint the roof as expected). Problem is that they just refuse to take responsibility. After many years of using ABSA home owners insurance I am very dissatisfied with the service.
