Absa home owners insurance is useless

We've been waiting a week for Absa to repair a leaking pipe in our wall. They initially sent out a plumber to assess the damage, but he refused to fix the leak because "removing a cupboard and opening the wall is not his department".

Since then it has continued leaking for more than a week, getting worse every day while rotting drywall, cupboards and door frames. Since it's a timber frame house the damage will be substantial.

Repeated follow up calls to urgently send someone to fix the leak has been unsuccessful, including Absa's outsourced service provider sending a contractor to Riversdale in Gauteng instead of the Western Cape.

The best part is we had a local plumber ready to fix the leak a week ago but Absa refused, insisting on their own service provider.

Do yourself a favour and avoid this company like the plague.

Thanks, Russell but I'm not interested in platitudes. You've emailed saying we can expect a response on 23/12... are you @#$% kidding me? So until then the pipe should keep leaking?

If a service provider doesn't arrive to fix the damage in the next 48 hours I'm getting someone local to fix the damage and reporting Absa to the insurance ombud.
