After paying a home loan for 15 years, they still deduct a cancellation fee on loan, amount of 40% more than your monthly premium. When enquiring about the property and account, I am told that their lawyer will send the ownership documents only when a minimum R6000 lawyer fee is paid. ABSA does not own the property any longer, but I cannot either as I first have to pay their lawyer, over and above the service fees plus cancellation fee paid over loan period every month.
