Absa home insurance still useless

Another day, another useless Absa home insurance claim. This time I've been waiting a week to get a burst geyser replaced. After repeated calls asking for updates with empty promises and emails going unanswered, I have to once again resort to complaining on social media to get answers.

I have just been advised that Absa is still busy investigating my complaint and awaiting feedback from the plumber. Which is it? The next update will be in 2 days. So every interaction with Absa adds another 2 days of my house being without running water.

Clearly there is no urgency to get this resolved.

Entering week 4 without a geyser. I honestly didn't think it was possible to receive worse service from Absa Insurance than we did only 3 months ago, but here we are. I regret not immediately following through with cancelling my insurance. At least now I know they're consistent - I won't make the same mistake again.

For the record, below is a timeline of this claim so far. Decide for yourself whether you want to do business with this company.

Mon 27/03 - Claim logged
Tue 28/03 - Plumber inspects geyser
Wed 29/03 - ...
Thu 30/03 - Email asking for an update
Fri 31/03 - ...
Mon 03/04 - Call asking for an update. Informed plumber tried to call me on Friday (he did not). Something about a 300l geyser being too heavy and having to provide a structural report. I provide documentation showing it's in fact a 250l geyser.
Tue 04/04 - Email asking for an update
Wed 05/04 - ...
Thu 06/04 - Call from claims handler. I need to prove it's a 250l geyser or provide a structural report. I throw my toys and get a cash settlement offer.
Fri 07/04 - Public holiday
Mon 10/04 - Public holiday
Tue 11/04 - Reluctantly contact engineer to inspect roof
Wed 12/04 - Engineer does inspection
Thu 13/04 - Engineer provides report to Absa. Cash settlement declined. Ask for installation date by CoB Friday.
Fri 14/04 - Informed Absa is still busy with costing, even though they literally made a cash offer a week earlier. Told they will revert by Tuesday.
Mon 17/04 - ...

I just had a call from Absa Insurance who now says I have to pay a betterment cost of R10,000 since I have a 250l geyser which they have to replace with a 300l. This is after they made me pay an engineer to get a structural report to get a 300l geyser installed.

You cannot make this stuff up!
