ABSA Home Insurance denial

Suffered pool pump damage during peak stage 4 load shedding due to power surges now normal weir and tear is to blame as a cause to deny a claim for damage incurred outside the control of the policy holder.

The rejection letter stage "Burn marks and black smoke were found on the filter and around the filtration plant. The damages to the filter and filtration plant was found to have catered for the damages to the pool pump." - Surely burn marks and black smoke do not constitute normal weir and tear, there was no prior warning nor indication of failure (smells, noises etc), the pump is used daily as intended and I would have noted any such warnings.

I feel ABSA Insurance is unfair and unduly reject claims under "wear and tear" in order not to settle the claim.

For to the previous post, I was intrigue about the Burn marks and black smoke" and upon investigation could not find any such evidence, what was found is black spore patches of a decaying mushrooms that sprouted next to the filter (photographs available), thus the entire basis of the burns and smoke catering for the damage to the pump is in fact null and void.
