ABSA HL account ***

I took a homeloan with ABSA and was promised a cashback reward of R5000.00 in January 2024. The conditions were as simple as:

Have a loan of more than R500 000.00 Have your deductions come off an Absa transaction account Have a rewards programme linked to that account Transact more R3000.00 a month

I went through the criteria with the registration attorneys to ascertain that I qualified, and I did. I still do however, it's been half a year,... "Dololo" (No sign of my R5000.00).

I called the bank and needless to say, I spoke to extremely unfriendly agents. They said I needed to go to the bank physically. So I did. I went to Absa Mall of Africa. The consultant called the home loans department and was told that she needed to speak to the "rewards" department. The "rewards" department said "How could this be our query when this was a home loan benefit"?,... at this stage, the bank consultant was also getting frustrated as she was starting to feel what I had been feeling; being sent from pillar to post. So she then calls back the HL department and asks to speak to a Team Leader. An Indian man gets on the phone and says "That benefit was only for 1st time home loan applicants", which I am not, and also untrue because by this time I had opened the fine print, and nowhere in the fine print did it mention any of that.

So to cut a long story short, I walked into the bank as I was told over the phone, and the bank also couldn't help, instead I was told blatant lies and got dismissed. I'm not sure who to talk to but I'm seeking legal counsel and will move all my ABSA (2 home loans, A Cheque, and a Business acc) to a bank that is not ********* and unprofessional.

NB: I forgot to mention that I had previously sent a mail to ***ca, as suggested by the 1st call centre agent but got no response. Not even an acknowledgment email.
