Absa, hire repossessors who behave like loan sharks

Wow Absa vehicle finance. Where do I begin.

My journey with Absa VF began in 2018.

After close to a year of not defaulting on payments I came into financial turmoil. I admittedly defaulted on installments (at times paying but not the entire amount) to pay for my father's medical aid who at the time was diagnosed with cancer.

After 4/5 installments of non payment or irregular payment I resumed paying my normal payments and have been since. During this time Absa has called and I have been talking to kind staff and making payment arrangements. Since resuming my payment of installments I have paid more each month so as to cover my debt. Now sitting at around R14500.

On Thursday I received a phone call from a rude woman saying I needed to pay the entire R14500. She proceeded to say I even missed payments. Bare in mind that I was involved in a car accident on the 1st of August. The individual who crashed into me (as a Stationary vehicle in traffic) has taken responsibility and will be paying for damages. The woman informed me that the car would be repossessed in a broken state at that Absa would not wait for the repairs to be done.

Since Thursday I have been called multiple times, close to harassment by the repossession department. I have answered my phone in between work times as much as possible. I also paid in another R3000 taking down the Arrears to around R11500. Yet the repossessor has belittled me and continue to say they will take the car away.

I am not upset because of the money Absa requires. I signed a contract and I know how this capitalist world works. I am upset because of the treatment I have received. At the rate I way paying my installments I would have completed paying for the arraes early next year, and had commited to try pay more to complete then even prior to that.

During these difficult times we do our best to honor our contracts but now I may sit with no car trying to deal with repossessors who behave like loan sharks, with no warning or courtesy call from Absa informing me that this was about to happen. Now I await to negotiate with people who treat me like a common ********.
