Absa Group Pension Fund - Failure to declare Lump Sum on my 2014 return is getting me in trouble with SARS

Absa Group Pension Fund

I resigned from ABSA in May 2015. When I tried to file for my 2014 tax return, it could not be processed by SARS because ABSA Group did not apply for a tax directive on the pension fund lumpsum sum that was paid to me. This issue is under SARS case number ***.

I got in touch with Sanlam Corporate for assistance but they confirmed my query relates to your 2014 tax period, and a certificate was issued under PAYE 7320****09 which is not under ACA as the administrator but the employer (Absa Group).

They then referred me to Rona Baxter (Team leader for People Advisory Centre). I have been in touch with Rona since the first week of October and I only received a response once, when she asked for additional information which i provided immediately. I have since been following up with Rona to no avail.

The issue is that my SARS 2014 still cannot be filed and i am being charged penalties every month and this will not stop until this matter is resolved. I am extremely frustrated because my penalty account is sitting at around R25 000 and it will continue to escalate until this issue has been resolved.
