ABSA & FICA, freezing accounts with no warning.

I am furious. ABSA's actions are unbelievable. I submitted my FICA documents, as requested by ABSA, December 2015 and received confirmation that the documents have been received. Not a word from the bank since then. All of a sudden, since yesterday, all my accounts have been locked. I phoned today, and to their credit, received excellent service from the call centre agents - they're trying their best to help me (and loads of other really angry people, no doubt). The lady let me know that there seems to be an issue with my proof of residence, and I requested a new document from my rental agency and resubmitted immediately. I'm awaiting a call about what will happen next.

What I would like to know is how on earth they can freeze my accounts with 0 prior communication to me? No emails, no phone calls, no smsses. I checked to see whether I had missed calls from unknown numbers - nothing. No notification of any kind, my accounts have just been frozen, on the last day of the month. How is this legal? How am I supposed to pay any of my accounts?

To add insult to injury, I receive a phone call this morning, again, from a very polite call centre agent, offering increased credit on my credit card. So, ABSA, you freeze my accounts, but you're willing to increase my debt with you? Magical. I'm really very curious about how legal it is to freeze my accounts without any notification or warning of any kind. I have never felt the need to change banks before now, but this has convinced me.
