ABSA FICA DEPARTMENT

I app**** for a credit card online on the 29th May and today I'm being asked about FICA documents which could have been asked for 3 weeks ago. I once had an ABSA card 10 years ago or so and I had a name change then and now I'm asked to go get a letter from home affairs confirming this but this is all just crazy as the ID numbers on their old profile and the one currently there is the same and they got statements and proof of res and marriage certificate with my names but still they need a letter confirming all this. Then to make it worse home affairs is telling me this is an application that will take another 4-8 weeks. I know banks have a finger print system where they can confirm if I am the rightful owner of the ID but ABSA chooses not to use it and they'd rather have me seat the whole day at home affairs for a stupid letter confirming what I've already told them. can someone please come up with a solution to all this!!! I wanted to apply for a cheque account with you guys which means it will be the same tedious exercise.
