ABSA failing to manage ********** debit orders

Absa either doesn't care about these ********** NAEDO transactions troubling their customers or they have accepted that they have lost the war against it. Either way, the customer is left to try and deal with this by him/herself - it is not the bank's concern! After experiencing this problem on a recurring bases in 2010/2011 and the ABSA telling me they cannot help and this can happen in any bank not just them, I finally decided to demote them from being my main bank where my salary came in and made them just another account I have. Life with FNB has been so much better and I have never experienced unauthorised debit orders with them. What I like most about FNB is their process of sending me sms notification everytime any party lodges a debit order against my account. I can then approve or reject that debit order accordingly, and my bank will only process the DO if I approve it. If I reject it, it gets blocked. Now, why can't ABSA do that? Anyway, the reason for this review is that my 2010 troubles with ABSA NAEDOs have now showed up in another account in my family. On average for the past 6 months, we have lost about R1000/months due to these R99, R89 or R129 ********** debit orders. We first walked in to ABSA bank to report this but were told that this was due to our debit orders bouncing. When I disputed this and told the account owner that it was not so, the person decided to call ABSA but was still not helped. Then on 31 July we contacted their actionline for complaints and we still did not get a response. When we reminded them yesterday, they told us they would get back to us within 24 hours and told us that if there is no response with that time line, we must email them AGAIN. Guess what? They did not get back to us and so we decided to pass by Hellopeter and leave this review on our way to opening a new account with a bank that takes their customers a little more seriously.
