Absa failed FICA check!
Vodacom accepted an ID of my father that was fradulently (spelling changed otherwise the word is blocked out) changed and no FICA was done. Somehow this person managed to take out a contract which ABSA bank also accepted without doing any FICA checks and ABSA has been allowing the monthly contract fee to go off my father’s account for 24 months to date!! ABSA and Vodacom have been refusing for 2 years to stop the debit order even though we have proof of the fradulent docs! Vodacom and ABSA bank both need large fines for non compliance to KYC practices!

27 Jul 2025, 07:11I still have not heard a word from Absa 9 days after my first Hello Peter review. Clearly customer service is a very low priority!

28 Jul 2025, 21:09This case can only be closed when the full refund reflect in my father’s account. How can Absa access my father’s account with a *****ulent ID shared by Vodacom and then refuse to stop the debit order. Since when does a third party have more say than the individual that the account belongs to?!!!! Did ABSA even do the compulsory FICA checks? Please comfirm if the FICA checks were done? I will get the ombudsman involved tomorrow.
