ABSA EXTORSION COMPLAINT
On Thu, Jan 26, 2023 at 6:22 PM Isaac Morudi <***> wrote: Good Day.
My name is Isaac Letlhogonolo Morudi with ID number ***, I have a complaint against absa. I was financed by absa for a 2022 VW Polo TSI Life. When I went to sign the contract and apply for financing at VW Benoni City, I did specify to the dealership that the contact number absa has for Myself is not my number but it’s my EX partner's number, I have added the dealership on the mail, and attached VW’s tax invoice for confirmation of this. On the 31st of December as contractually agreed with absa they debited the first car installment, I had +R11 258.00 in my Standard Bank account and absa debited R6 820.50.
I was contacted by my irritated EX partner who was swearing at me and calling me evil for giving her number as my primary contact to my creditors. I then contacted absa on the 16th of January 2023 to find out what was going on as I was under the impression that all was well. The rude service desk lady at absa told me that I had defaulted on my account, as their debit bounced. I immediately called Standard bank to find out why that was. Standard bank confirmed that there was enough money at the time of the debit.
I then wrote a complaint to absa advising them of my situation and that I can not afford what absa termed as a resolution to my complaint, as it is arbitrary and punitive. absa claims that they called me prior to me calling them and I arranged to pay double my installment with penalties and extra charges on the 31 January. I did not as they were calling the wrong person and I eventually called in as they did not capture my details correctly. Absa also admitted that “Please note Absa experienced debit order/system issues at the end of December 2022. The issue was not limited to your account only and affected several accounts” as per absa’s investigator please find the attached correspondence between Myself and absa. I am aware of my obligations and responsibilities but surely, I cannot be penalized for absa's transgression to our contractual agreement. Added to that I won’t have the R14000.00 that absa wants to debit from my account on the 31st of January, meaning the account will remain in arrears, and with tracker and insurance it will work out to R16000.00
To this day I have pleaded with absa and its call center agents. My cries fell on deaf ears, today I spoke to shonese ellie at vehicle and asset finance and she put me through to another lady at collections, the calls are recorded so absa can provide the recording.
I have decided that I do not want anything to do with absa and this vehicle as the service that they gave me stinks and is very condescending, to say the least, why would I still want to do business with this bank? I want to return this car to VW. I wonder with absa admitting to this how many people are affected and how much money is absa has ******ed from unsuspecting clients as this mafia bank is taking people for a ride and then getting to pocket people's hard earned money. I will look for another car and financing elsewhere but not with absa. If absa was not able to approve me for a car that costs R14000.00 a month, how do they think I will afford paying that amount now? When absa officials look at my pay slip do they in their right minds think that I can afford such a debit?
Please assist me against this giant of a company.

I.L Morudi
