ABSA ESTATE DIVISION IS TOTALLY INEFFICIENT

My Mother passed away on 14th May 2021 at the age of 91. As a retired school teacher she was meticulous about her personal affairs and had made sure that the family attorney had drawn up her will many years in advance. Her Estate is not huge by any means. Her investments, savings accounts etc are all with Absa as she has banked with them virtually since their inception. and had great faith in them. Despite many many enquiries from our attorney to Absa as well as from my sister, we are unable to get finality from Absa on her Estate, despite numerous calls and emails. Excuses range from "we are just very busy" to "we know we are running behind" to "it's on the priority list" but no progress at all. Our attorney is highly frustrated as he doesn't know what else to do. A friend of mine passed away in September 2021 and left an Estate of R15million. His Beneficiaries were paid out in January 2022! Our small Estate is still not settled after 16 months despite there being no issues with my Mother's Will. We are desperate.
