Absa don't want to close my credit card account

On the 13th May went into an Absa branch to close my credit card account and was placed with a phone call with Absa credit. I was given an amount to pay which I did from the ATM and was advised I must wait 48 hours for the division that close credit card accounts to call me. 10 days later and still no call from Absa. I also called the call centre in the interim and sent emails with no success. Absa what kind of service is this?
