ABSA doesn't know its left foot from its right. Furious.
ABSA offered its loan clients a 3-month loan holiday during Lockdown, which I took them up on. It has been such a headache! I was approved both telephonically and in writing, and yet continued to be debited my full loan installment for the next 3 months, which I had not budgeted for. The first month I let it slide as I thought I'd misunderstood the loan holiday start date, but the next 2 months' debit orders I reversed. Upon inquiring each time, I was told that my application was still being processed (despite me receiving full approval, as mentioned). I was profusely apologized to and promised it would be sorted out. Obviously it wasn't, as I continued to receive debt collection phone calls stating that my account was in arrears, despite receiving further written communication that my loan holiday had been approved. After the 3rd debit order, and these many phone calls in which I continued to explain my approval, I was finally not debited on the 4th month (which was my 3rd month on my loan holiday, following the previous 2 months' debit reversals). I received another written apology... where after I continued to receive debt collection calls, and now, the 5th month after my approval, have been debited 3 MONTHS INSTALLMENTS because of my 'bad debt,' instead of the normal monthly installment resumption as described to me very clearly in the latest phone call. It is RIDICULOUS that your departments are still not communicating with each other 5 MONTHS after a loan holiday approval in which terms were very clearly set out, but then not adhered to by yourselves. Why bother apologizing to your clients and providing written approvals when nothing is actually done behind the scenes? I now have to go and reverse the debit order AGAIN, and then do a manual payment of the correct amount. Such a nuisance and a headache! I am angry and disappointed.
