ABSA - does not care about the little guy
I have been banking with ABSA for over 10 years now, and when I started banking with them, I opened accounts for my two young kids, to save money for their future studies. Recently, their dad who is divorced from me, was able to access one of the accounts, and withdrew over R70000. When I questioned Absa, they place the account on a freeze, but some person working for Absa is a friend of my ex husband, and activated the account for him to withdraw the balance. The law states that only the legal guardian of a child can withdraw funds, and there must be a signature authority on the account. Both do not exist, my ex husband is not the guardian nor the signatory of the account. if a child turns 16 banking laws state that they can still not withdraw the funds, the person making the deposits and who opened the account needs to do this. Absa was notified, and now they are running circles in order to build their stories and ensure that they cover themselves. The ***** managers promised to call me last week, no word from them the social media complaints team promised me findings today, and now they need more time. They have stated for security reasons and for privacy laws they cannot provide the full ***** findings to me, which means they already preparing to side line this and make reasons why they are not at fault, So, next stop Banking ombudsman, then we go to court and fight this matter over. R70000 might seem like nothing to Absa, but to me it is the world, my blood, sweat and tears went into saving that money as a single mother. You should be ashamed for breaking your own policies and then trying to cover your own selves. But this is not over @ABSA
